The U.S. welcomes Azerbaijan`s efforts toward energy diversification and its struggle against Islamic extremism.
Former U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs David A. Merkel made the remarks Wednesday at the panel discussion “The European Union and the Neighbourhood Policy” held as part of the 3rd Global Forum in Baku.
We often hear that the U.S. is not active in the international arena and prefers its own well-being, said D. Merkel.
“The U.S. has always tried to be a model rather than directing other countries. Currently, China needs more to be directed. Asia and the Middle East will be a part of our future discussions”, he added.
