On Thursday at around 8:20 am, the Military Police and a military garrison investigation department received a report that a contract soldier of a military unit in Yerevan had caused a gunshot injury to himself at the arsenal of this military unit, the Investigative Committee of Armenia informed, AzVision.az reports citing the Armenian media.
The 24-year-old soldier with a gunshot wound, and who was taken to hospital in capital city Yerevan Thursday morning, has died.
He was transferred to a hospital.
A criminal case was filed on the incident. Investigative and judicial actions are taken.
The soldier was pronounced dead at around 11:35 am. The preliminary investigation of the criminal case is still in progress.
