Chairman of the Council, TASS Director General Sergey Mikhaylov opened the session. He highlighted the issues of cooperation in covering preparations for and celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Chairman of the Board of AZERTAC, President of the News Agencies World Congress and the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) Aslan Aslanov stressed the importance of the issues on the agenda.
Aslan Aslanov said: “We have the issue of cooperation in covering preparations for the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War on our agenda. This historic event left deep traces on the lives of our nations. It affected the families of each of us, families of our friends and loved ones. As one of the countries which contributed to this victory Azerbaijan celebrates it at the highest level. We hold our veterans in great respect and care after them. As AZERTAC we want to reaffirm our close involvement in the Council’s projects related with these events and our readiness to provide information support.”
Director General of Belarus Telegraph Agency Irina Akulovic spoke of the preparations to celebrate 75th anniversary of the victory in her country. She also drew the audience`s attention to the issue of coverage of the 2nd European Games to be held in Belarus in June. The event participants proposed to establish an exhibition of never-before-seen photos of war veterans.
Head of the CIS and Baltic States Department at TASS Boris Grushin provided an insight into the projects implemented by the Council. He stressed AZERTAC’s great contributions to the projects and urged other agencies to take an active part in information exchange.

Speakers at the SPIEF included Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, Slovak Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and others.
