Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan sign agreement on emergency situations cooperation
On May 19, an Azerbaijani delegation led by the Minister of Emergency Situation, Colonel-General Kemaleddin Heydarov paid a short-term official visit to Uzbekistan at the invitation of country’s Minister of Emergency Situations Tursinkhan Khudaybergenov.

The delegations led by Heydarov and Khudaybergenov had a meeting in an expanded format.

The sides discussed the development of cooperation on emergency management between the relevant ministries of the two countries, issues of mutual interest on preparedness for natural and man-made disasters, the prospects for taking advantage of both countries’ experience in more effective response to disasters.

Then, the “Agreement on cooperation on prevention of emergency situations and elimination of their consequences between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was signed.

Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel General Kemaleddin Heydarov cut short his official visit to Uzbekistan and returned to Azerbaijan over the fire outbreak in a residential building in Baku’s Binagadi district on May 19.
