As Azmammadov said, the head of the Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, Javid Gurbanov, who is attending the 62nd meeting of the CIS Railway Transport Council in Minsk, visited the Stadler Rail Group’s factory, the Stadler Minsk.
“Stadler Minsk specializes in the manufacture of cars for broad-gauge railways of the CIS countries,” said Azmammadov.
He added that the plant produces 120 railway cars a year.
Azmammadov also said the plant is already building 25 double-decker trains for the Russian railway operator, Aeroexpress.
He added that the plant will produce railway equipment by order from the CIS countries, including the Belarusian Railways.
The Azerbaijan Railways CJSC and Stadler Rail Group are in talks on modernization of the railway system of Azerbaijan.
During the Azerbaijani international exhibition of transport, transit and logistics, held in Baku May 13, an agreement was inked with Stadler Rail Group to acquire five KISS double-decker electric trains.
