Azerbaijan seeks strategic partnership with EU
“The processes going on in the EU energy policy point that Azerbaijan is accepted as an important partner”

Azerbaijan`s proven gas reserves stand at 2.6 trillion cubic metres (tcm). Works are underway in a few fields, and I believe that the proven reserves will be greater.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev made the remarks Tuesday at the opening ceremony of the 22nd international Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference in Baku.

The head of state said the diversification of energy routes is of great importance.

“The processes going on in the EU energy policy point that Azerbaijan is accepted as an important partner. We know this, and perceive our role and responsibility. Azerbaijan is a reliable partner for Europe. All these will raise the level of relations between Europe and Azerbaijan. We want a format of the strategic partnership to be established between Azerbaijan and the European Union”, President Aliyev added.

The president said that Azerbaijan’s well-thought-out steps have redrawn the energy map of Europe.

“This will strengthen our country, bring new political and economic dividends and improve the living standard in the country,” he noted.

The head of state mentioned that reforms are underway in Azerbaijan.

“Azerbaijan hosts great international events and meetings. We completed preparations for the first European Games in a short period of time, for two years. This demonstrates the power of Azerbaijan”, said President Aliyev.
