In Israel, there is a big excitement around the First European Games in Baku, said Harpaz, adding that two Israeli channels will broadcast the Games in Baku.
“Israel is going to send the biggest ever delegation in our history of sports, more than in Olympic Games, more than in European Championship,” said the ambassador.
Harpaz said Israel has a delegation of 200 people coming for the Games, while the country had 60 athletes in London Olympic Games.
The ambassador said that the First European Games are very important for Israel. “Israel was among the first countries to support the Games in Azerbaijan.”
Israel has close sport relations with Azerbaijan and the Olympic committees of Azerbaijan and Israel have close partnership, said Harpaz. “Our Olympic Committee expects around 6-9 medals.”
Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.
