Armenia to pay 11,000 euros to each of 22 applicants in ECHR case

The Armenian government today made a decision to allocate drams equivalent to 242,000 euros to the Prime Minister's Office from the government's reserve fund for 2020 to comply with the December 5, 2019 judgment by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in the Aghanyan and others v. Armenia case to pay the 22 applicants (11,000 euros, each) for fair compensation as set forth in the judgment.

The reasoning of the government decision states that the payment of fair financial compensation set by the ECHR for the violated rights of the applicant is one of the mandatory conditions for the enforcement of the ECHR judgment.

The deadline for payment of this compensation set by the ECHR on March 5.
