Foreign ministers of Turkic-speaking countries issue joint statement on events in Egypt
The foreign ministers of member countries of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (CCTS) deplored the violence taking place in Egypt, according to a joint statement adopted by the foreign ministers of the CCTS member-countries at the Council`s third summit held in Gabala on Friday (Azerbaijan).

"We deplore the deaths and injuries caused to people as a result of the use of force in response to the ongoing demonstrations in Egypt. We believe that the deaths of civilians is unacceptable and extend our condolences to the families of those killed and wish speedy and full recovery to the injured," the statement said.

The foreign ministers of Turkic-speaking countries stressed the need for establishment of peace in Egypt and called for the restoration of security, democracy and stability in the country.

Death toll during the army crackdown on protesters, supporters of ex-President Mohammed Morsi, has increased to 638.

On Wednesday, the Egyptian army launched a crackdown on demonstrators, supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi, using military equipment and firearms.

The Muslim Brotherhood leaders claim that nearly 2,000 people were killed during the crackdown and about 15,000 civilians injured.
