British tourist pleads guilty to posing naked in Malaysia
A British woman pleaded guilty in a Malaysian court Friday to being a public nuisance after she stripped naked on a mountain there with a group of travelers from Canada and the Netherlands.
Eleanor Hawkins was among a group of backpackers who took off their clothes while on a visit to Malaysia`s Mount Kinabalu, a place held sacred by many in Malaysia.

The BBC reported that Hawkins, 23, admitted the offense while appearing in Kota Kinabalu Magistrates` Court on Friday. She is a student from Derby, England.

Canadian sisters Danielle and Lindsey Petersen, along with an unnamed Dutch national, also pleaded guilty. The pleas of several other people in their group were not immediately known.

The travelers, charged with making a lot of noise on the mountain and publicly urinating in a nearby pond, were subsequently blamed for starting an earthquake that killed 18 people.
