Competitions in karate start within first European Games Baku 2015 - LIVE
Competitions in karate among men and women in different weight categories have started in Baku within the framework of the first European Games Baku 2015 June 13.
Six sets of medals in kumite will be played today: three among men in the weight category of 60, 67 and 75 kilograms and three among women in the weight category of 50, 55 and up to 61 kilograms.

Azerbaijan will be represented by Firdovsi Farzaliyev (weight category up to 60 kilograms), Niyazi Aliyev (67 kilograms), Rafael Agayev (75 kilograms), Nurana Aliyeva (50 kilograms), Ilaha Gasimova (55 kilograms) and Farida Abiyeva (up to 61 kilograms).

All competitions will be held in the Crystal Hall.

Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which kicked off on June 12.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

The First European Games will last till June 28.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
