Museum dedicated to European Games to be created in Baku
A museum dedicated to the first European Games will be created in the Baku Olympic Stadium, Youth and Sports Minister of Azerbaijan Azad Rahimov told on June 15.
“The museum will mainly consist of different clothes and other items that were used at the opening ceremony,” he said.

The minister went on to add that the opening of the museum will be held after the completion of the first European Games.

Rahimov said that there are no plans to create a separate museum devoted to the European Games in general.

“Nevertheless, construction of the Olympic Museum has already started and the entire sports history of the country will be reflected there,” he said.

The European Games kicked off in Baku June 12 and will last till June 28.

There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
