In this regard, all measures envisaged in the decision (dated 2 April 20) of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan No. 124, including restrictions on entry/exit from the territory of Azerbaijan by land and air transport, local flights with the exception of cargo transportation, as well as suspension of classes in all educational institutions are extended until 00:00 May 4.

In addition, a phased exit plan from the extended quarantine regime will be prepared and presented to the public next week.

At the same time, after analyzing the sanitary-epidemiological situation in the country, easing the restrictions in certain areas is possible during the extended quarantine regime.

All countries are currently taking preventive measures against the infection. In March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic. Despite all measures, as many as 2,160,207 people are infected with the novel coronavirus, with the death toll at 146,088.

In order to prevent the threat that COVID-19 could pose to Azerbaijan, under the instruction of President Ilham Aliyev, an Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Minister was established in January 2020 to take all preventive measures.

In order to prevent the wide spread of the virus, as a continuation of operational and systematic preventive measures in the country, the rules of social isolation were introduced from March 14, 2020, and a special quarantine regime was imposed until April 20, 2020.
