The statement came from chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Azerbaijan Araz Alizade, commenting on the National Council meeting, during which it was decided to nominate a single candidate for replacement in case of non-participation of their head Rustam Ibrahimbayov in the presidential elections.

At present, the screenwriter cannot nominate his candidacy to the CEC because of the presence of the second (Russian) passport, making it impossible to participate in the elections because of legal restrictions.

"The National Council will not be able to come to a unanimous verdict, and achieve anything. I said it from the beginning and foretold this outcome. I believe that the opposition is united only at the insistence of foreign sponsors, for the reason that for many years the sponsors have demanded the unity of the opposition and nomination of a single candidate”, Alizade said.

He stressed that the heads of the parties will never make concessions to each other in the matter of nominating a single candidate.

"These people were once united. However, Eldar Namazov worked at the presidential administration, and then betrayed the president at the hardest moment and deserted”, Alizade said.

According to him, such intransigence among the leadership of the parties is related to their personal ambitions. He stressed that there was a split in the opposition for that very reason.

"At the moment there is nothing that they could unite them, except for the sponsorship. And then they found a candidate who will not be registered, but whom they all knew. This is Rustam Ibrahimbayov. They know very well that he would not be registered, but they tell their sponsors that they have found the candidate and united”, Alizade said..

According to him, Rustam Ibrahimbayov`s time has passed - opposition has already made use of him and does not need him anymore.

Speaking about the figure of the head of the executive board of the National Council, Eldar Namazov Alizade called him "a sly fox, who is familiar with the subtleties of the game-scenes”.

"He still waits and is the only one who wants to keep the National Council. Eldar Namazov does not represent anyone but himself. He needs a certain structure. This is the third organization he was changed as gloves – The Forum of intellectuals, then "EL", while now it is a gathering of comedians”, Alizadeh said.

He stressed that the Azerbaijani people today do not trust the opposition for a number of objective reasons.

"The problem is that the opposition unites the same people who deceived the people during the national liberation movement, and these are the people who have completed a period of national rejoicing and the struggle of the people for Nagorno Karabakh with the events of January 20, these are the people who have made public coup in 1992, these are the people who in 1993 brought the country to the brink of civil war and fled from liability, these are the people who in 2003 tried to create a so-called "orange revolution" and have not achieved anything, just destroyed cars and smashed showcases”, Alizade said

According to him, the Azerbaijani people are wise enough and know what the opposition is in real.

"I think that the future policy of Azerbaijan depends on young people who have already made a professional career. Such people will come to politics, if they feel a need to serve their nation”, he said.
