Situation on Azerbaijan-Armenia border discussed at Russian Security Council meeting

The current situation at the Azerbaijan-Armenia border was discussed at the Russian Security Council’s meeting chaired by President Vladimir Putin on Friday, said the presidential spokesman, Dmitry Peskov.

“Moscow’s readiness for mediation efforts was once again stressed during the Security Council’s meeting,” Peskov said.

The Security Council expressed concern over the ongoing escalation at the Azerbaijan-Armenia border, urging for a respect for the ceasefire, the spokesman added.

Since 12 July, Armenia has been committing military provocations in the direction of Azerbaijan’s Tovuz district along the two countries’ borders.
