Armenian government not to reduce energy tariffs despite protests
Armenian Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) will not reconsider the decision passed on increase of energy tariffs from August 1, 2015, said the press secretary of the commission Mariam Stepanyan.
According to her, the commission does not intend to change the decision despite protests.

“We have not passed a decision that needs correction”, Stepanyan said.

She added the organization that she represents is an independent body making decisions basing on economy after long-term discussions: “Social part of the issue is not related to us. It’s needed to protect economic balance. That sum should be paid for reliable and qualitative service”.

Armenian Electric Line OJSC said that the company will not recall appeal on increase of the tariffs.

On June 17, Armenian Public Services Regulatory Commission confirmed double increase of energy tariffs. Daytime tariff rose 16.65%, night tariffs – 21.8%.
