An Australian-Azerbaijani parliamentary group consisting of 20 members has been established at the Federal Parliament of Australia.
Member of the coalition Liberty Party Luke Simpkins was elected as chairman of the group, and member of the opposition Labor Party Alan Griffin as deputy chairman, The Azerbaijani Embassy in Australia told.

The parliamentary group includes influential members of the Australian Labor Party Anthony Albanese, Laurie Ferguson, Michael Danby, Claire Moore, Warren Snowdon, Maria Vamvakinou, member of coalition National Party John Cobb and others.

L. Simpkins, A.Griffin and J.Cobb have recently visited Azerbaijan, had meetings in the Azerbaijani Parliament, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Azerbaijan State University of Languages and ADA University, and discussed the possibilities of mutual cooperation.

The establishment of the Australian-Azerbaijani parliamentary group is an important step in terms of development of cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments.

The Australian-Azerbaijani parliamentary group, as a partner of the interparliamentary working group functioning in the Azerbajiani parliament, will contribute to expansion of political, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
