New head of Turkish General Staff to be appointed
A new head of the General Staff of Turkey is expected to be appointed in August, Turkish Kanal7 TV channel reported July 6.
The new appointment is associated with the retirement of the current head of the General Staff Necdet Ozel, the TV channel reported.

Sixty three-year-old Land Forces Commander Gen. Hulusi Akar may be appointed new head of the General Staff of Turkey.

He has been holding this post since 2013.

Earlier it was reported that Ozel will resign Aug. 30.

The reason for the expected resignation is health problems.

The Turkish General Staff has not denied or confirmed this information.

Ozel was appointed head of the General Staff of Turkey August 4, 2011.
