They were participants in a protest demanding the resignation of PM Pashinyan. The protest began immediately after the signing of the November 10 truce, which many in Armenia regard as a ‘treacherous conspiracy and the voluntary surrender of Karabakh to Azerbaijan.’

Young people blocked traffic on different streets of Yerevan, as happened in the days of the 2018 velvet revolution.

The incident with the minibus, the driver of which did not want to wait for the end of the demonstration and rammed the demonstrators, was recorded on camera. The footage shows how one of the participants in the protest falls and is helped back to their feet. She later told reporters that she was feeling well and did not need medical attention.

The police are already investigating the incident. More than two dozen protesters were reportedly detained during the day. The martial law regime, which prohibits the organization on rallies, has not yet been cancelled in Armenia.

Note, on November 10, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement to end six weeks of fierce fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Under the agreement, Russian peacekeepers are being deployed along the front line in Nagorno-Karabakh and the corridor between the region and Armenia.

A total of 1,960 Russian peacekeepers are to be deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh under a five-year mandate.

According to the agreement, on 15 November, Armenia must hand over the Kelbajar region which lies to the northwest of Nagorno-Karabakh, to Azerbaijan. This would be followed on 20 November by the Aghdam region to the east of Nagorno-Karabakh. 

Finally, on 1 December, Armenia will hand over the Lachin District, over which the Lachin pass connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia passes.

The agreement stipulates that a 5-kilometre wide corridor through Lachin will remain connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia which will be controlled by Russian peacekeepers.
