  Turkish, Iranian Presidents discussed Karabakh

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani discussed steps to improve Turkey-Iran ties in a phone call Thursday.

The two leaders also discussed regional issues, according to Turkey's Communications Directorate.

Erdogan said that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has entered a new phase and it is important to avoid all aspects that could overshadow the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. The Turkish leader also noted that the establishment of lasting peace and stability will open new opportunities, and the new environment will be beneficial for all countries in the region, including Armenia.
