Former Armenian leaders and Russian Ambassador to Armenia discuss Karabakh

Russia's ambassador to Armenia Sergei Kopirkin said that he discussed all current issues and the situation after the Karabakh war with Armenia's former leaders, AzVision.az reports citing the Armenian media.

"We talked about the tragic events of late 2020, the work done by Russia, the peacekeeping contingent, the activities of the International Humanitarian Center in Karabakh and the assistance provided to Armenia in various fields. It was interesting to hear assessments of the domestic political situation in the country, "Kopirkin added.

As for the ruling team's refusal to hold early parliamentary elections, Kopirkin said that the decision rests with the Armenian leadership and political forces. In Kopirkin's view, Russia considers it as Armenia's internal issue: "I think that the right decision will be made, given the difficult situation in the country. There are very important tasks and problems that need to be solved. Russia is actively trying to help solve them."
