Azerbaijani, Russian FMs discuss Karabakh Conflict - Updated
Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs ELmar Mammadyarov and Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov held one-on-one meeting in Moscow.

They discussed bilateral relations, settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

Lavrov expressed his satisfaction with visit of Azerbaijani counterpart to Moscow and level of bilateral relations.

Russian Minister stressed that the existing cooperation in many spheres, especially humanitarian sphere between two countries is successfully developing and said Azerbaijan will host Days of Russian Culture during International Humanitarian Forum to be held in autumn of 2015.

Russian FM also noted that an event on exploration of oil and gas fields of Arctic will be held Saint Petersburg in September of 2015 and Azerbaijani Minister of Industry and Energy has been invited to that event. Moreover, Russian minister underlined that an interregional forum will be organized as a part of the Intergovernmental Economic Commission to be held in Yekaterinburg in September 2015 and Azerbaijani delegation is expected to participate in an exhibition military exhibition, which will be held Sverdlovsk province.

In turn, Mammadyarov thanked to Russian counterpart for visiting Moscow and said that the main topic of today’s meeting was settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. He also noted that the meeting was held to perform tasks given by the presidents to the foreign ministers.

Azerbaijani Minister congratulated Russian counterpart on the successful conclusion of negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program held in Vienna: “Of course, this is a great contribution to ensuring security of regional peace. We, neighbour countries – Iran, Russia, Azerbaian are glad to see positive results in this issue”.

Mammadyarov stressed his confidence that these negotiations will have positive impact on the situation in the region: “Following positive solution of Iran’s nuclear problem, I hope the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict will also improve”.

Touching upon negotiations conducted for peaceful settlement of the conflict, Azerbaijani FM especially stressed Russia’s role as a co-chair country.
