Strong earthquake strikes eastern Indonesia
A powerful 7.0 magnitude quake has rocked Indonesian Papua Province.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the magnitude-7.0 underground quake was centered 247 kilometers west of Jayapura, the provincial capital of Papua. Its depth was measured at 52.9 kilometers.

As a result of the earthquake four houses, a church and two buildings were reportedly destroyed and a 15-year-old boy is guessed to have drowned after falling into a river.

Indonesia is prone to earthquakes due to its location. A massive earthquake, in 2004, triggered a tsunami that killed 230,000 people in Indonesia.
