In his letter, PM Asadov expressed confidence that the successful implementation of the project will make a significant contribution to Turkey’s economy.
Turkey on Saturday laid the foundation for Canal Istanbul, a government mega-project connecting the Sea of Marmara to the Black Sea and championed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Canal Istanbul -- to be built on the Turkish metropolis’ European side within the borders of Istanbul’s Kucukcekmece, Avcilar, Basaksehir, and Arnavutkoy districts -- will be around 45 kilometers (28 miles) in length, 275 meters (902 feet) in base-width, and 20.75 m (68 ft) in-depth.
