Customs border between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan to be opened August 12

The solemn ceremony of lifting customs controls at the border between the two countries will take place on August 12. After that, Kyrgyzstan will officially become a full-fledged EAEU member. "From this day, our republic will be able, along with other EAEU member countries, to freely move its goods, services, capital and labor forces," Sariyev said. "This, in turn, opens new possibilities and provides several exemptions for our citizens, businessmen and migrants working abroad." The prime minister also noted that opening customs borders in the framework of EAEU will "open new prospects" for Kyrgyzstan’s economy as well.

Back in 2011, Kyrgyzstan decided to join the organization, which at that time was called the Customs Union. In December 2014, member countries signed an agreement on the republic’s joining the Union. The document came into force as it was ratified by all the parliaments and inked by all the presidents.

Besides Kyrgyzstan, EAEU unites Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia. The EAEU membership involves free movement of goods, capital and labor between its member-countries as well as the provision of services.
