The Venice Biennale`s International Festival of Contemporary Music was established in 1930 and was the first festival to run alongside the International Art Exhibition, that had characterized the birth of the Biennale back in 1895. Over the years, the Festival presented world premieres by Stravinsky, Prokofiev and Nono, and its tradition is renewed today under the directorship of Ivan Fedele.
Through the International Festival of Contemporary Music, the Venice Biennale stresses its central role in the panorama of music today.
