Protests continue in Armenia
Activists demand nationalization of "Electric Networks of Armenia"
Activists of the movement “Stand up, Armenia” held a rally in the evening on August 11 in Yerevan demanding the resignation of the Commission on regulation of public services and the nationalization of “Electric Networks of Armenia”, Interfax news agency reported.

“They (the authorities) stifle the country`s energy, have put “Electric Networks” to the service of their business,” coordinator of the movement David Sanasaryan told “Interfax.” “Our struggle is not only for the fact that they review the decisions taken, but also for ensuring that they cede power to the people.”

Dozens of people took part in the opposition rally.

Activists of “Stand up, Armenia” hold a sit-in campaign starting from July 27 at the Republic Square in Yerevan. They demand to cancel the decision of the rise in price of electricity at 6.93 dram (0.92 rubles). Until the results of the international audit for “Electric Networks”, appreciation will be subsidized by the Armenian government.
