Azerbaijan plans to restore 25-km section of Horadiz-Aghband railway line by year-end

Azerbaijan continues the reconstruction of the 110 km-long Horadiz-Aghband railway line, which is an integral part of the Zangazur corridor.

The reconstruction work will be carried out in three stages, the Azerbaijan Railways CJSC told AzVision.az.

According to the company, the first stage envisages the restoration of the 30-km section of the railway line.

“The 23-km section of the railway line from Horadiz to Marjanli has been designed with the existing line, and from the 23-km to 30-km section has been designed with a new one. The second stage provides for the reconstruction of the section between the Mahmudlu and Minjivan sections, which have already been redesigned. The railway line section from the Minjivan and Aghband station will be restored in the third stage,” the company said.

“It’s planned to complete the restoration of the 25-km section of the railway line by the end of the year,” added the company.

On February 15, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev laid the foundation of the Horadiz-Aghband railway line in Fuzuli district.

The strategic importance of this 110 km-long railway line is extremely high. The single-track railway will consist of eight stations and more than 300 artificial engineering structures are planned to be built within the project.

Along with the Horadiz station, seven more stations, namely, Marjanli, Mahmudlu, Soltanli, Gumlag, Minjivan, Bartaz and Aghband, will be completely rebuilt.
