Uzbekistan takes  extreme security measures during holidays
On the threshold of Uzbekistan`s Independence Day, which is celebrated on September 1, increased security measures are being taken, Director General of the patrol service and public order protection of the Interior Ministry, Colonel Kobilhon Nakibov said in an interview with the National News Agency of Uzbekistan (UzA).
“In the system of internal affairs agencies, on the basis of an approved plan, measures are being taken to ensure safety and security during the holidays,” he said.

Special attention is being paid to the observance of public order, road safety and fire safety, and prevention of emergency situations, Nakibov said.

“In anticipation of the holiday, groups of employees of internal affairs bodies, local authorities and members of the public have been formed in every district, town, village, residential blocks,” said Nakibov.

He said that these groups with the assistance of members of the public successfully perform such tasks as the identification and preventive influence on those who are likely to commit offenses.

Uzbekistan ranked first among the CIS countries in terms of ensuring the country`s safety and security, according to the index of the rule of law in 2015, annually announced by an international non-governmental organization World Justice Project.
