Barcelona`s Gerard Pique faces ban of 4-12 games for cursing out linesman
The expletive-laden rant could land the Spain defender in hot water with the authorities
Defender Gerard Pique could miss up to 12 games of Barcelona`s league title defence after being sent off in the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup.

The former Manchester United man took aim at the assistant referee, screaming "I s*** on your w**** of a mother" in his face as he raged over the decision before being pulled away by teammates.

4-0 down from the first leg, Barca led 1-0 before the centre-back was sent off - virtually ending their chances of a famous comeback. Then Aritz Aduriz scored late-on for Athletic Club to seal their first trophy for 31 years.

While Pique`s sanction is one that could hit the Spanish champions hard, with insults towards the officials considered a serious offence by La Liga and the LFP, a first offender would hope to see just four games suspended.

This would still mean that he misses the league opener against Athletic Club, the home games against Levante and Malaga and - most importantly - the visit to Atletico Madrid in early September. And it`s not the first time Pique has attracted trouble for his pottymouth.

The 28-year-old celebrated victory in the UEFA Super Cup last week by telling arch rivals Real Madrid to go forth and multiply. The Spain defender, buzzing after Barca`s extra-time 5-4 win over Sevilla, said "Come on lads, let`s celebrate! Madrid can f**k themselves. Let them see us turn this round!" Pique`s declarations, reported by Spanish television show El Chiringuito , are also not the first time he`s invoked Madrid`s name while enjoying the Nou Camp club`s success.
