The Central Bank of Azerbaijan makes consistent efforts to curb inflation in the country, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication of Azerbaijan Vusal Gasimli told Trend.

Gasimli stated this at a scientific and practical conference on "Socio-economic results of 2021 and development prospects".

He called the current inflation in Azerbaijan at the level of 6.7 percent "imported".

"We imported inflation, that is, inflation arose due to an increase in prices of imported goods and a significant influx of foreign currency into Azerbaijan. The positive balance of Azerbaijan's trade turnover maintains the stability of the national currency. Preventing price increase is one of the urgent tasks of the global economy, including Azerbaijan," Gasimli added.
