Paris science museum hit by fire
A fire has damaged multiple levels of the main science museum in Paris, and two firefighters have been injured fighting the flames.
The blaze broke out overnight in a section of the Cité des Sciences that is under construction, Commander Gabriel Plus said. The cause of the fire is unclear.

It raged for several hours, prompting concerns that adjacent exhibit halls and the museum’s IMax film theater could also catch fire. But by mid-morning, more than 100 firefighters had brought the blaze under control, Plus said.

The museum will stay closed on Thursday and firefighting teams will continue to monitor for other fire risks.

The sprawling museum complex in north-east Paris houses interactive children’s exhibits as well as exhibits on space, light and geology.

One of the firefighters was hospitalized with extreme heat exposure while the other suffered from smoke inhalation, Plus said.
