Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the U.S. Khazar Ibrahim has visited the state of Oklahoma in connection with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of relations with the state under the State Partnership Program.
As part of the visit, meetings were held with the Governor of the State of Oklahoma, John Kevin Stitt, the Brigadier general of the National Guard of Oklahoma, Thomas Mancino, Secretary of Agriculture Blayne Arthur and Secretary of Commerce Scott Mueller. The sides hailed cooperation between Azerbaijan and the state of Oklahoma. Governor Stitt noted that his visit to Azerbaijan in 2021 and meeting with President Ilham Aliyev as part of the trip were very productive. Apart from military cooperation, the importance of cooperation in economic and humanitarian fields, between the state and Azerbaijan was also emphasized.
Following the meeting, Ambassador Khazar Ibrahim and the governor were interviewed by local state channels KWTV 9 and KOCO Channel 5.
Ambassador Khazar Ibrahim also visited Oklahoma State University. Azerbaijan State Agrarian University and Oklahoma State University enjoy cooperation on the preparation of joint academic and student exchange programs. Azerbaijan State Agrarian University and Oklahoma State University signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of agriculture on 7 November 2019 and a memorandum of cooperation on a dual MBA program on 30 July 2021. As part of the cooperation between the universities, two students from Oklahoma State University will be sent to Azerbaijan State Agrarian University in September. During the visit to Oklahoma State University, Ambassador Ibrahim met with its Vice-President, teachers and students and responded to questions from them.
During the meetings, the parties suggested considering opportunities of cooperation with Azerbaijan’s universities in the fields of tourism and business, in addition to agriculture.
