UN hopes to further cooperate with Azerbaijan on peace issues, official says

UN hopes to further cooperate with Azerbaijan on peace-building issues, Vladanka Andreeva, resident coordinator of the organization in the country, said during a simulated UN conference at ADA University in Baku, AzVision.az reports.

Andreeva said that the UN and Azerbaijan are jointly moving towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

She noted that this year is very important in terms of relations between the world organization and Azerbaijan in terms of marking the 30th anniversary of the country's acceptance to the UN.

“In this regard, various events will be held throughout 2022, one of which is today's conference,” Andreeva said.

Besides, the resident coordinator spoke about global issues such as food shortages, and unemployment, which, according to her, are on the agenda in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

"Contribution to peace-building is one of the main principles of the UN, and we hope to continue further successful cooperation with Azerbaijan in this area," she said.
