Azerbaijan has been presented at the 59thVenice Biennale international art exhibition by the Azerbaijani pavilion, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and dedicated to the theme entitled "Born to love", AzVision.az reports.

The Venice Biennale is a long-awaited event for all artists and art amateurs, as it’s considered the most prestigious exhibition of contemporary art in the world.

In the ancient Procuratie Vecchie building in the central St. Mark's Square in Venice, the national pavilion has featured works of seven Azerbaijani artists - Narmin Israfilova ("Beetle"), Infinity, Ramina Saadatkhan, Fidan Kim (Novruzova), Fidan Akhundova, Sabiha Khankishiyeva and Agdes Bagirzade.

The artists representing contemporary art have introduced modern techniques and methods to the audience, as well as presented the rich cultural and historical features of Azerbaijan.

The author-artist Ramina Saadatkhan, whose work was featured in the exhibition, said she was proud to participate in the Venice Biennale for the first time.

The photographer-artist Agdes Bagirzade has presented “The other side of me” project at the Biennale.

"As an Azerbaijani, as a photographer, I’m very proud of my participation in this festival, biennale. This became possible with the support and participation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Indeed, it’s a great responsibility for us to represent Azerbaijan here," she said.

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been implementing projects to support the development of contemporary art and the creativity of young artists since 2004. One of them is participation in the Venice Biennale.

The country has been participating in the Biennale, which is held once in two years, since 2007.

The 59th Biennale will be held until November 27.
