  Azerbaijan, Brazil discuss aspects of bilateral cooperation

Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Carlos França during his visit to Latin American countries, the Azerbaijani ministry told reporters.

According to the ministry, the meeting parties highly appreciated level of political dialogue between the two countries, and emphasized the importance of holding the third round of political consultations between Azerbaijan and Brazil.

Besides, the parties discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation in various fields, including agriculture, energy, culture, stressed the importance of holding joint events, during which next year the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Brazil will be marked.

Mammadov informed the Brazilian minister about the new political realities formed in the region after the 2020 second Karabakh war, about the restoration and construction work carried out in the territories liberated from Armenian occupation [in the war], the measures and large-scale projects implemented by Azerbaijan.

Besides, the Azerbaijani official noted that the importance of international transport corridors passing through the territory of Azerbaijan is growing.

The meeting was also attended by the Brazilian Secretary General of Foreign Affairs Fernando Simas Magalhães and Chairman of the Brazilian-Azerbaijani Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress (Parliament) of Brazil Claudio Cajado.

The parties exchanged views on cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international organizations, as well as discussed issues of regional and international security of mutual interest.
