Price stability will continue in Azerbaijan by end of the year - CBA
It is expected that price stability will continue in Azerbaijan by the end of the year.
This was stated by Board Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) Elman Rustamov at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the socio -economic development for the nine months of 2013 and the upcoming challenges, held on Monday under the chairmanship of President Ilham Aliyev.

According to him, during the reporting period, the price stability was ensured, and for the mine months the average annual inflation rate was only 2.3 %.

"The growth rate of household income exceeded the rate of inflation, resulting in the growth of real revenues by more than 5%. Since the beginning of the year, in countries that are major trade partners of Azerbaijan, the average inflation rate was 2.8 percentage points higher than in our country.

It is expected that price stability will continue until the end of the year," said Rustamov.

The head of the Central Bank said that during the reporting steps were taken to preserve the stability of the manat.

"In order to prevent a sharp appreciation, the Central Bank has implemented monetary sterilization by USD 1.7 billion," he said.
