New Mexico State Senator visits Azerbaijani Parliament
Vice-Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Bahar Muradova has today met with a delegation from US New Mexico State, who are on a visit to Baku.

The vice-speaker said Azerbaijan-US relations are based on strategic alliance, the Parliament told.

“Relations between our countries are deepening at not only the state level but also at the level of civil society and communities. Azerbaijan, the first democratic republic in the East, uses its achievements in this area in the interests of the whole region. The US is a good example for us in terms of democracy building,” said Bahar Muradova, adding that more than 15 US states, including New Mexico, have adopted documents supporting the unbiased truth about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the Khojaly tragedy.

The guests were told that Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov is currently on a visit to the United States, where is attending the 4th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament being held in New York City.

The guest were also informed that Azerbaijan a tolerant country where people of varying ethnicity and religions live peacefully.

Head of the delegation, Ms. Mary Kay Papen, expressed satisfaction with her visit to Azerbaijan.

The sides during the meeting discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh problem and the areas under occupation. Bahar Muradova said Azerbaijan is on the eve of new parliamentary elections, noting that an active election campaign will be launched soon.
