Armenia violates ceasefire with Azerbaijan over 100 times within 24 hours
Armenian armed forces located in the villages of Dovekh, Shavarshavan of Armenia’s Noyemberyan district opened fire at the positions of Azerbaijani armed forces located in the Kemerli, Farakhli villages of Azerbaijan’s Gazakh district.
Along with that, Armenian troops on nameless heights in the Krasnoselsk district of Armenia fired on Azerbaijani positions on nameless heights of Azerbaijan’s Gadabay district.
Another ceasefire violation came from the positions located near the villages of Talish, Tapgaragoyunlu, Gulustan of Goranboy district, Chileburt, Gizil Oba of Terter, Novruzlu, Sarijali, Kengerli, Yusifjanli, Shikhlar, Shuraabad, Merzili, Garagashli, Javahirli of Aghdam, Kuropatkino of Khojavend, Horadiz, Garakhanbeyli, Ashagi Abdurrahmanli, Ashagi Veyselli, Ashagi Seyidahmadli, Gorgan of Fizuli and Mehdili of Jabrayil district.
Moreover, Azerbaijani positions took fire from the positions located on the nameless heights of Goygol, Goranboy, Khojavend, Fizuli and Jabrayil districts.
Taking into account the operational situation, Azerbaijani armed forces carried out 153 strikes on enemy positions.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council`s four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
