Armenia violates ceasefire with Azerbaijan over 70 times within 24 hours
Armenian armed forces located in the village of Voskepar of Armenia’s Noyemberyan district opened fire at the positions of Azerbaijani armed forces located in the Ashagi Askipara village of Azerbaijan’s Gazakh district and Armenians stationed in the Chinari village of Berd district of Armenia fired at the Kokhanabi village of Tovuz district.
Along with that, Armenian troops on nameless heights in the Krasnoselsk district of Armenia fired on Azerbaijani positions on nameless heights of Azerbaijan’s Gadabay district.
Another ceasefire violation came from the positions located near the village of Tapgaragoyunlu of Goranboy district, Goyarkh village of Terter, Sarijali, Kengerli, Shikhlar, Merzili villages of Aghdam, Kuropatkino of Khojavend, Horadiz, Garakhanbeyli, Ashagi Abdurrahmanli, Ashagi Seyidahmadli, Gorgan of Fizuli and Mehdili of Jabrayil district.
Moreover, Azerbaijani positions took fire from the positions located on the nameless heights of Goygol, Goranboy, Khojavend, Fizuli and Jabrayil districts.
Taking into account the operational situation, Azerbaijani armed forces carried out 130 strikes on enemy positions.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council`s four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
