Armenia and Azerbaijan have a historic opportunity to normalize relations between the two countries, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Oliver Varhelyi said at the plenary session of the European Parliament, AzVision.az reports.
He added that the parties should return to a substantive dialogue since many important issues remain to be resolved.
The EU is actively involved in facilitating dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan, said Varhelyi, stressing the alliance's commitment to being a reliable mediator to achieve a common goal - a secure, prosperous and peaceful South Caucasus.
