Baku says intensive work underway to normalize relations with Yerevan

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has said intensive work has been carried out to normalize relations with Armenia in recent months.

There had been several meetings during this period at the level of leaders, FM Bayramov said.

"There have been intensive contacts at the level of foreign ministers. Negotiations are underway to open communications," the minister said.

“We have heard dozens, hundreds, even thousands of different appeals over the past two and a half years, as well as during the 30-year occupation. These appeals need to be heard, it is important to analyze them, which is what we are doing, giving adequate responses. I believe that time has shown that in order to develop and resolve issues in the right direction, the Azerbaijani side must take systemic measures and is taking them. The Azerbaijani state has its own specific vision of resolving issues, taking into account the norms and principles of international law. We implement our policies in accordance with our own national interests, and not at the behest or words of anyone. We are confident that this policy will bring positive results,” he added.
