The meeting was also attended by Diplomatic Advisers to French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Emmanuel Bonne and Jens Ploetner, as well as EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar, AzVision.az reports citing the EU Council.
The sides discussed the situation in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan during the meeting. Hajiyev spoke about Azerbaijan's plans to render humanitarian assistance and ensure the safety of the local population.
During the meeting the participants exchanged their views on the relevance of a possible meeting of leaders within the third summit of the European Political Community (EPC), to be held in Granada on October 5.
“The EU officials think that a possible meeting in Granada should be used by both Yerevan and Baku to publicly reaffirm their commitment to each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty in accordance with agreements reached earlier in Prague and Brussels,” the EU Council said.
