Italian media highlights reintegration of Armenian residents of Azerbaijan

Italian news agency “Today” has posted an interview with Azerbaijani Ambassador to the country Rashad Aslanov, who highlighted the measures implemented for the reintegration of Armenian residents living in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, AzVision.az reports.

In his interview, Ambassador Rashad Aslanov touched upon the military aggression, war crimes and ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis committed by Armenia since 1993, as well as the Khojaly genocide.

The Azerbaijani diplomat underlined that as a result of the Second Karabakh war in 2020 Azerbaijan had put an end to the occupation and liberated the territories, which were destroyed during the 30-year-long occupation.

Aslanov also highlighted the local anti-terrorist measures carried out by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in Karabakh to disarm and withdraw the illegal Armenian armed formations from the territory of Azerbaijan, and restore the constitutional order of Azerbaijan.

Touching upon the reintegration issues of Armenian residents living in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani diplomat said: “Azerbaijan had offered reintegration and coexistence of the Armenian residents of Karabakh, however, they choose to leave. Because they are afraid of the violence we had once suffered. But we are different. There are Armenians living in peace with Azerbaijanis in Baku, as well as in other areas of Azerbaijan. All citizens of Azerbaijan share the same rights. The constitution of Azerbaijan guarantees them the right to speak their own language, to have their own schools, cultural centers and churches. We offer the Armenian residents of Karabakh to stay in these areas and live together in order to establish peace in the region. The government of Azerbaijan also continuously sends humanitarian aid to the Armenian residents of Karabakh."

Ambassador Rashad Aslanov also provided insight into the large construction and infrastructure projects being implemented in Karabakh with the participation of Italian companies.
