The event was held on the sidelines of the First International Theater Festival of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY), which marks the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as declaration of Shusha as the Cultural capital of the Turkic World for 2023, 150th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s National Theater, as well as 30th anniversary of TÜRKSOY.
The meeting brought together the directors of theaters of TURKSOY member states, including Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, as well as the observer states the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Gagauz Yeri (Moldova).
The participants noted that the festival would contribute to the promotion of the theatrical art, language and traditions of the Turkic peoples.
The meeting also featured the signing of the final declaration of the 9th meeting of the council of directors of state theaters of TURKSOY member states.
The document envisages the enhancement of cooperation in the sphere of theater between the Turkic peoples, as well as the exchange of experience in the relevant field.
The participants agreed to hold the 10th meeting of the board of directors of state theaters of TURKSOY member countries in the cultural capital of the Turkic World for 2024, Turkmenistan’s city of Anev.
The 1st TÜRKSOY International Theater Festival will run until November 4.
