Azerbaijan, UK discuss economic cooperation

Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and UK Minister of Export Lord Malcolm Offord have discussed promising areas of economic cooperation.

Jabbarov emphasized the development of relationships and expansion of ties between countries in various sectors of the economy, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Economy Ministry.

Azerbaijan carries out effective trade and investment cooperation with the UK. The United Kingdom is the largest investor in the country, Jabbarov underlined.

Guests were informed about the measures and results being implemented in the country in the field of creating renewable energy sources, as well as initiatives for cooperation in the field of green energy.

It was noted that SOCAR has made a voluntary commitment to reduce methane emissions and emphasized the importance of the working group between the Ministry of Economy and the British Chamber of Commerce and Industry in expanding economic partnership.

Lord Malcolm Offord emphasized the desire of the United Kingdom to further develop trade and economic ties with Azerbaijan and pointed out opportunities for implementing joint initiatives and establishing cooperation in new areas.

The meeting discussed the organization of an investment forum to be held in London next year, encouraging joint activities in the field of energy and decarbonization, and supporting initiatives in the areas of export, investment and trade.

“During the meeting with Lord Malcolm Offord, the UK Minister for Exports, we discussed the present state of economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Britain, exploring opportunities for collaboration in enhancing joint endeavors in the energy sector; supporting reciprocal initiatives in export, investments, and trade,” Jabbarov wrote on X.
