Azerbaijan, Russia mull agricultural cooperation

The Republic of Azerbaijan and the Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation convened a meeting on agricultural cooperation. Deputy Minister of Agriculture Elchin Zeynalov and Minister of Agriculture and Fishing Industry of the Astrakhan region, Ruslan Pashayev, were among the attendees, along with representatives from relevant structures of both countries and enterprises operating in the agricultural sector, AzVision.az reports.

The participants were briefed on the governmental support for agriculture in Azerbaijan and the ongoing agrarian reforms. The meeting highlighted the significant attention given to the non-oil sector by President Ilham Aliyev in recent years, signaling a new phase of development in the agricultural domain. The implemented agrarian reforms are designed to foster further growth in agriculture, with substantial support measures being implemented by the state.

The event underscored the positive cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation in agriculture and other economic sectors, with a particular emphasis on the increasing trade turnover between the two countries.

The meeting participants hailed the areas with opportunities for mutual economic and commercial cooperation, stressing the development of the non-oil sector and the favorable investment climate in Azerbaijan.
