Azerbaijani delegation refuses to attend OSCE PA session
Azerbaijani delegation led by parliament vice-speaker Bahar Muradova didn’t attend the autumn session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, the Azerbaijani parliament told.

Muradova explained reasons behind the decision. “First of all, Azay Guliyev and I are dealing with issues of nominations to upcoming parliamentary elections. It was previously planned that only Azay Guliyev would to take part in the session. After the decision of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) not to observe elections in Azerbaijan, we considered it needless to attend such meaningless discussions. We thought that instead of paying attention to such meaningless discussions, one should better attend this democratic process taking advantage of the normal election environment in Azerbaijan. However, this is a decision taken for the current period, and is not related to future meetings.”

The OSCE PA session, which began on Sept. 15, ended today.

On Sept.11, ODIHR took a decision to cancel the Election Observation Mission for the parliamentary election to be held in Azerbaijan on Nov.1.
