The statement reads: “The People's Union for the Liberation of Guadeloupe (UPLG) supports the establishment of the Nazione Party in Corsica with the aim of bringing the issue of Corsica's decolonization and independence back onto the agenda.

On Sunday, January 28, 2024, a number of parties and organizations of Corsica came together to set up a new Corsican political party with the goal of securing independence for their country. Whereas elected members of the Corsican territorial assembly have expressed their support of the autonomy project for Corsica and desire to conduct negotiations with the French government, members of the new party have expressed their opposition to it, believing that this path will lead to an impasse. From this point of view, their decision coincides with the opinion of the Polynesians.

Despite the years of struggle by the Corsican people, the French authorities continue their policy of persecution and prejudice. In particular, the French authorities do not accept the reality of the existence of Corsica and its people and do not recognize the right of the Corsican people to determine their own destiny.

Having used up all solution options, France is doing everything to slow down the process. The most determined children of Corsica say “NO” and “STOP” to that. They do not accept Corsica’s recolonization and replacement of its population. They also demand the right to exercise their right to self-determination. They call on the entire people of Corsica to mobilize, use all available means to secure their rights and win their independence.

The People's Union for the Liberation of Guadeloupe expresses its full support and solidarity with the activists who have come together to raise the issue of Corsica’s struggle for sovereignty.”
