Some observers from the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) are monitoring the presidential elections in the Azerbaijani territories liberated from occupation, OTS Secretary-General Kubanychbek Omuraliev told journalists, AzVision.az reports.

Omuraliev noted that the observation mission from the OTS is divided into two groups, one of which monitors elections in the liberated territories, including Shusha and Khankendi.

The secretary-general also reminded that on the eve of the elections, observers from the OTS held meetings with the head of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan, Mazahir Panahov, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, as well as with registered presidential candidates.

“Elections are an important event for every country. Today’s elections can be called historic for Azerbaijan since they are being held throughout the country for the first time. I congratulate the Azerbaijani people on this event,” he said.
